
Louis "L J" Blaiotta, Jr.

Louis James Blaiotta, Jr., affectionately known
in the industry as "LJ," began working at Columbia
Elevator in 1986. He designed and implemented a new business
structure for enhanced customer relations, production efficiency,
employee relations and the aggressive application of emerging
new technologies to a very traditional field. By 1991, he had
risen to the level of Vice President and, since January 1, 1994,
has been the president of Columbia Elevator Products Co. Inc.
In 1988, he became a member of the Hoistway Committee of American
National Standards Institute ASME (ANSI A17.1) Elevator & Escalator
Safety Code Writing Authority. He is a member of both the American
Society of Civil Engineers and the American Society of Quality
Control. Currently, he is implementing a massive restructuring
of Columbia Elevator as a new-millennium model for the design
and manufacture of commercial elevator cabs and entrances. In
2004, he became a member of the Elevator Advisory Board to the
New York City Department of Buildings.
Born in Port Chester, New York on March 10, 1965,
LJ received his BS in civil engineering, May 1986 from Rensselear
Polytechnic Institute. In 1990, he received the NY State ETI
engineering licensing certificate, and, in 1993, his MBA in strategic
planing from Lubin School of Business, Pace University; while
at Pace, he was inducted into the International Economics
Honor Society.
